Armour plating
Rather than just mod the PS3, I wanted to do something a little extra that would allow me to really go to town on, giving the PS3 a battle damaged war torn look – It just wasn’t sensible to damage the PS3 to the extent I wanted.
I wanted to include some bullet holes somewhere in the mod, as I felt they'd fit in well with the AK-47 magazine and shell casings dotted around the base.
The solution was to instead mod a front and rear shield for the console, which I could then carve up and damage as much as I liked without compromising the PS3.
Using aluminium made cutting and bending (
and presumably shooting! - Ed) the plates easier before spray painting and finally airbrushing them.
Playstation 3 meets Dremel
Modding the PS3 itself represented more of a challenge as I wanted to achieve a rusted metal appearance without having to build an entirely new enclosure for it.

This meant first removing the Playstation 3 from its plastic prison before going to town on it with a Dremel to deform the piano black exterior to give it that battle hardened, rusted look. There's nothing more satisfying than turning something so sleek and stylish into a war-torn wreck.
The hardware inside was safe, though...
